Jasper School District believes all students deserve equitable access to education. Our Special Education team works collaboratively with families, staff, and community partners to identify, support, and empower students with disabilities.

🔍 Early Identification Through Arkansas Child Find

In alignment with federal and state mandates (IDEA Part C & Part B), our district actively participates in Arkansas Child Find.

• Birth to age 3: We partner with Arkansas First Connections (DHS) for early intervention and developmental screenings.

• Ages 3–5: Preschool children receive regular developmental screenings and referrals to early childhood special education .

• Ages 5–21: Through ongoing screening, referrals, and evaluations, including proactive strategies for students advancing grade‑to‑grade, we ensure all students needing support are identified. For more information on Special Education services in Arkansas click here.

Arkansas Child Find requires districts to locate, evaluate, and identify all eligible children—including those in private/homeschooled settings, homeless, or highly mobile .

📝 Individualized Services & Supports

Once a need is identified, we develop an Individualized Education Program (IEP) tailored to each student, which may include:

• Specialized instruction in academic, behavioral, or life skills

• Related services such as speech, occupational, and physical therapy

• Inclusive classroom supports or, when appropriate, specialized settings

• Transportation and assistive technology as required

• Transition planning to prepare students for college, vocational paths, or independent living

Families are at the heart of our process—from evaluation and IEP development, to annual reviews and transition planning. We encourage family involvement, welcoming parents as active participants and decision-makers at every stage.
