⭐️Oark Hornet Staff Spotlight⭐️

Meet Mrs. Rachel Poor! Mrs. Poor was born and raised in Waldron, Arkansas. When she graduated in 2002, she went to Arkansas Tech University and earned a Bachelor’s in English Education. In 2006 she started teaching eighth-grade language arts at Waldron Middle School. She then earned her Master’s in English Education, then another Master’s in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages. She achieved National Board Certification in 2017. In 2023 she completed her certification for special education and decided to make a big change:  she started teaching at a non-traditional school in North Little Rock. While she loved the kids, NLR never felt like home.... and she wanted to come back to rural Arkansas. She will be teaching  7-12 English for Oark High School and is super excited to get started! 🐝💜

Mrs. Poor enjoys reading mostly fantasy novels, hiking, going on road trips, and going to renaissance festivals. She loves completing puzzles, dabbles in photography, and keeps trying to learn new skills. She would love to keep beating her husband at Mario Kart 64, but he won’t play against her anymore. 😂

Mrs. Poor and her husband have been married for 20 years this October. They have eight dogs and four cats and she displayed amazing willpower recently by not taking a cat she saw in Memphis. 😊

Help us welcome Mrs. Poor to our Oark Hornet Family!!! 💜💛💜💛
